Description

Pinitol is a precursor of d-chiro-inositol and has been shown to have hypoglyceamic effects by mimicking insulin and thereby considerably increasing the ability of muscle cells to absorb glucose. Goats rue extract is chemically similar to guanidine and works by enhancing the sensitivity of receptor cells. Gymnema sylvestre seems to reduce intestinal absorption of glucose and may stimulate pancreatic beta cell function, increasing the release of insulin. Gynema sylvestre can increase the serum C-peptide levels, suggesting an increase in endogenous insulin secretion.
