Pharmacological Action
Theanine is evidenced to reduce mental and physical stress and produce feelings of relaxation. Theanine is speculated to produce these effects by increasing serotonin, dopamine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and it has micromolar affinities for AMPA, kainate, and NMDA receptors.
